Dr. Amshuman Rao is an Australian trained adult and paediatric Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist.
Amshu was born in Melbourne and moved to Sydney for University. After completing a Bachelor of Medical Science at the University of Sydney in 2010, Amshu graduated from Medicine with first class honours at the University of Notre Dame (Sydney) in 2014. While a junior doctor, Amshu completed a Masters degree in Moral Philosophy and Bioethics at Monash University, deepening his understanding of the complexities of patient experiences and decision-making.
Amshu was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2025. Throughout his specialist training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (ENT), Amshu worked across major tertiary hospitals in NSW and the ACT including; Royal North Shore Hospital, The Canberra Hospital, Westmead Childrens’ Hospital, The John Hunter Hospital, Nepean Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Amshu enjoys all aspects of ENT but has a particular interest in otology (ear surgery). In late 2025 he will travel to the United Kingdom to undertake a prestigious fellowship in Lateral Skull Base and Complex Otology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham to further specialise in this field.
Amshu has a passion for medical education and training. He is actively involved in mentoring ENT surgical trainees and has published a number of articles in peer reviewed medical journals.
Outside of medicine, Amshu loves spending time with his wife and two young children, hiking, travelling and cooking.
